Golden Anvil's Family of Master Jewelers and Talented Craftsman have been showcasing Fine Quality Diamonds & Jewelry in South Florida since 1990 and nationally since 1939. We can provide a Diamond Lab Report which is a metric analysis of a diamond's attributes
without reference to price, unlike an appraisal. Ideally, there
should be two documents; the lab report providing
the scientific data and an appraisal assigning a dollar value
based on current diamond-markets. A diamond grading report or lab report is also referred to as a certificate.
The report will contain attributes, enhancements, cut, color, clarity, carat and measurements. The reports also include diagrams, top and bottom views, of the diamond's clarity and the diamond's natural inclusions will be plotted to show type and position. ALL Diamond Solitaires are GIA-Certified with full documentation. A formal diamond grading report will be prepared, signed, dated and assigned a report number for authenticity.
Clarity
more info |
Clarity is the quality of diamonds relating to the existence and visual appearance of internal characteristics of a diamond called inclusions, and surface defects called blemishes. Inclusions may be crystals of a foreign material or another diamond crystal, or structural imperfections that can appear gray or cloudy. The number, size, color, relative location, orientation, and visibility of inclusions can all affect the relative clarity of a diamond. A clarity grade is assigned based on the overall appearance of the stone under 10x magnification.
Most inclusions present in gem-quality diamonds do not affect the diamonds' performance or structural integrity. However, large clouds can affect a diamond's ability to transmit and scatter light. Large cracks close to or breaking the surface may reduce a diamond's resistance to fracture.
Diamonds with higher clarity grades are more valued, with the exceedingly rare "flawless" graded diamond fetching the highest price. Minor inclusions or blemishes are useful, as they can be used as unique identifying marks analogous to fingerprints. In addition, as synthetic diamond technology improves and distinguishing between natural and synthetic diamonds becomes more difficult, inclusions or blemishes can be used as proof of natural origin. |
Cut
more info |
A number of different diamond Cuts have been developed, in order to best utilize a diamond gemstone's superlative material properties, . A diamond cut constitutes a more or less symmetrical arrangement of facets which together modify the shape and appearance of a diamond crystal. The most popular of diamond cuts is the modern round brilliant, whose facet arrangements and proportions have been perfected. Also popular are the fancy cuts which come in a variety of shapes—many of which were derived from the round brilliant. A diamond's cut is evaluated by trained graders, with higher grades given to stones whose symmetry and proportions most closely match the particular "ideal" used as a benchmark.

Carat
more info |
Carat weight is the standard metric measurement of a diamond's weight. The word carat originated from the carob tree, whose tiny seeds were well known for their uniformity and consistent weight. Traditionally diamonds and gemstones were weighed against these seeds until the system was standardized, and one carat was fixed at 0.2 grams. One carat is divided into 100 points. A diamond weighing one quarter of a carat can also be described as weighing 25 points or 0.25 carats. Points are generally not used to describe weights over one carat. Most people compare carat weight to size. The larger the diamond the more it
weighs. The weight of a diamond is expressed in carats. |
Color
more info |
A chemically pure and structurally perfect diamond is perfectly transparent with no hue, or color. However, in reality almost no gem-sized natural diamonds are absolutely perfect. The color of a diamond may be affected by chemical impurities and/or structural defects in the crystal lattice. Depending on the hue and intensity of a diamond's coloration, a diamond's color can either detract from or enhance its value. For example, most white diamonds are discounted in price when more yellow hue is detectable, while intense pink or blue diamonds (such as the Hope Diamond) can be dramatically more valuable. |
